In February 2006 our son Isaiah was born. We had found out in the 17th week of pregnancy that he had spina bifida and hydrocephalus. After his birth he endured two major surgeries, and has since completed six more. In addition to all of this, he has ongoing day-to-day needs and conditions, including urological and neurological.

The purpose of this blog is to simply share some of the specific joys and struggles of being the father of a special needs child. Many wonderful blogs by mothers are out there, and my purpose is to offer a father’s perspective.

We are a Christian family that believes in a sovereign God who rules and directs everything. Our son’s condition is no accident, and has provided us with numerous opportunities to experience God’s grace and blessing in many wonderful and unexpected ways.
